The Lead
A new shadow box in the Britton-Hecla Arena lobby marks a permanent milestone for Marshall County athletics. The school district recently retired jersey number 10 in memory of former quarterback Trevor Zuehlke, representing the first time any athletic jersey number has been retired in school history.
Zuehlke led the Braves to a 9A state football championship as a freshman in 2018 before suffering a severe head injury on the field the following autumn. At the halftime ceremony, former head coach Pat Renner joined alumni and the Zuehlke family to honor Trevor’s competitive spirit and wide-ranging impact across the county.
Beyond the framed uniform and archival photos welcoming fans inside the arena, the family’s foundation, Pass It On For Trevor, continues supporting youth sports programs across the region. Spectators heading inside the gym this fall will find the jersey hanging proudly above the court.
