Drive-Through Food Distribution Set for Friday on Camp Street
Uvalde, TX · October 21, 2026
Morning chill is giving way to clear skies and an easy 83 degrees today, giving folks ideal weather whether they're heading to the polls or grabbing lunch downtown.
The Lead
The San Antonio Food Bank is partnering with El Progreso Memorial Library and local school officials this Friday morning for a community-wide drive-through food distribution. Staged at the school district’s transportation facility at 1009 North Camp Street, the mobile pantry will supply fresh produce, meats, and shelf-stable goods to local families navigating elevated grocery costs.
No identification, vouchers, or pre-registration are required for recipients, removing administrative barriers that often keep rural households from seeking food assistance. Operations run from 11:00 AM until noon, or as long as boxed supplies last. Organizers specifically ask inbound drivers to hold off on arriving before 10:00 AM so morning bus traffic and surrounding street corridors stay clear. Volunteer teams report to the bus barn gates early Friday to unload pallets and coordinate the distribution lines.
