Local Operators Take the Helm at Municipal Golf Course
Uvalde, TX · October 18, 2026
Dust is already kicking up over at the Fairplex arena for the final go-rounds of youth rodeo this morning. Grab that extra sweater before stepping onto the porch—autumn chill has officially settled in.
The Lead
The greens at Uvalde Memorial Golf Course have a clear path forward following a unanimous City Council vote approving an operating agreement with L&L Links LLC. Formed by local residents Brandon Laffere and Kincaid Light, the partnership steps into management after weeks of municipal discussions over how best to maintain the 18-hole municipal course along the Leona River.
Under the new contract, the duo assumes oversight of daily course operations, pro shop services, and clubhouse scheduling. The decision resolves months of interim arrangements, giving local golfers and weekend leagues long-term stability ahead of the winter season. Laffere and Light plan an immediate assessment of turf maintenance and cart fleet logistics before outlining their full seasonal tournament calendar.
