Hundreds of endurance athletes are taking to the water and roadways early this morning as the annual Lago Mar MultiSport Festival wraps up its weekend competition at Lagoonfest Texas. The two-day gathering drew multisport competitors and paratriathletes from across the state for sprint triathlons, duathlons, and youth races centered around the 12-acre crystal lagoon. While yesterday belonged to young racers taking their first strides in the sport, today features adult sprint competitors navigating an open-water swim, a 12-mile cycling loop, and a fast 5K run.
Local volunteers and emergency crews have traffic management stationed along Crystal View Boulevard through midday to guide motorists around the course. Once the final runners cross the timing mats around noon, racers and families will transition to the sandy lagoon shoreline for afternoon awards ceremonies.
