Morning fog is sitting low over the pines, but the weekend lineup clears the slate quickly. Stage call boards are buzzing and taprooms are lining up canvases.

The Lead

Eight blank canvases, five ticking hours, and plenty of fresh beer are on tap for Saturday as Tidal Brewing Co. hosts the second annual Art & Ales competition on Spring Hill Drive. Organized alongside Roots Creative Co., the live showdown pairs regional painters head-to-head in a fast-paced creative challenge celebrating the Florida Wildlife Corridor.

Starting at 2:00 PM, visitors can grab a small-batch pour and watch raw brushstrokes transform into finished depictions of native pine flatwoods, wetlands, and wildlife before the evening deadline. Spectators hold the power of the ballot, casting tokens for the People's Choice award while original works head to auction to benefit the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation. Artists lay down their first strokes promptly at 2:30 PM, leaving the final outcome to whoever holds a pint and a ballot.
