Overnight Lane Closures Begin on Cortez Boulevard
Spring Hill, FL · October 5, 2026
Packing an umbrella is your smartest move today before overnight paving shifts kick off along Cortez Boulevard. Here is what to know to navigate your Monday smoothly.
The Lead
FDOT has scheduled overnight lane closures along Cortez Boulevard (State Road 50/U.S. 98) approaching and through the intersection of Mondon Hill Road and Spring Lake Highway, running nightly from 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM through Thursday morning, October 8. The overnight operations are part of a targeted resurfacing and intersection safety project, reducing travel lanes to a single alternating lane while crews mill and pave. East of the corridor, complementary flagging operations are underway on U.S. 301 from U.S. 98 down to the Withlacoochee River bridge for ongoing road widening. Motorists traveling east toward Interstate 75 after sunset should anticipate minor delays or use State Road 50A through downtown Brooksville as an alternate route. Road crews will clear equipment and reopen all travel lanes by 6:30 AM daily ahead of the morning commute.

Spotlight & Story
- Boston Cooker Restaurant
- When founder Robert Theriault built the red-brick restaurant on Spring Hill Drive in 1998, he bet on the influx of northern transplants. To guarantee authenticity, kitchen staff began making regular runs to Tampa International Airport to pick up freshly flown-in New England seafood.
