Overnight Cortez Boulevard Closures Start Tonight — Detour Routes Inside

Spring Hill, FL · August 17, 2026

If your Monday commute takes you past Cortez Boulevard or over the river on US 301, give yourself a few extra minutes behind the wheel today.

The Lead

Roadwork crews are setting up shop along two major corridors across the county this week, starting with daytime flagging operations on US 301 and nightly closures along Cortez Boulevard.

The Florida Department of Transportation began single-lane closures and manual flagging on US 301 at the Withlacoochee River bridge early this morning, running through 7:00 PM. Beginning tonight at 8:00 PM, contractors will close lanes overnight along Cortez Boulevard at the Mondon Hill Road and Spring Lake Highway intersections to resurface pavement and update traffic signals.

The nightly Cortez closures run from 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM through Thursday morning. Transportation officials encourage evening drivers to follow designated detours along State Road 50 and allow additional travel time.
