First New Fire Station in 20 Years Breaks Ground Today

Crews are breaking ground on a brand-new fire station off US-19 this morning, giving our growing neighborhoods a major boost in emergency coverage.

The Lead

Hernando County Fire Rescue is officially breaking ground today at 9:00 AM on Station #15, located near US-19 and Atlanta Avenue. While the county has modernized three existing facilities in recent years, this project marks the first expanded service location added to the system in more than two decades.

The new facility is engineered to shorten emergency response times across fast-growing residential corridors along the western side of the county. Equipped with modern bay facilities and upgraded dispatch technology, the station will house dedicated fire and paramedic crews full-time. County leaders and department officials will join residents at this morning's ceremony to kick off construction on the site.
