Overnight Mosquito Fogging Scheduled Through Friday Morning

Seal Beach, CA · October 7, 2026

That dense coastal fog hugging the sand this morning will burn off just in time for lunch. Keep your windows shut after midnight tonight, though, when vector control trucks begin their neighborhood rounds.

The Lead

The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District is launching three consecutive nights of residential mosquito control across local streets, beginning late tonight and running through Friday morning. Between midnight and 5:30 AM, district trucks equipped with ultra-low-volume foggers will treat residential neighborhoods to suppress surging adult mosquito populations detected in recent surveillance traps.

The treatment disperses a micro-fine aerosol designed to knock down adult mosquitoes on contact, lowering transmission risks for West Nile virus. While public health officials emphasize the compound breaks down quickly in daylight and poses negligible risk to humans or pets, vector control advises closing windows, turning off intake fans, and keeping pets indoors while trucks are active. Crews plan to wrap each run well before dawn.
