Gloves and Buckets Ready for Tomorrow's Shoreline Cleanup
Seal Beach, CA · September 18, 2026
Catch the morning tide before the breeze picks up — the weekend kicks off with live music on Ocean Avenue tonight and a massive sand cleanup at daybreak.
The Lead
Hundreds of neighbors will pull on work gloves Saturday morning as the 42nd Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day arrives along our coastline. Because the San Gabriel River empties right beside the municipal border, local sands catch urban runoff from dozens of inland communities before waves can sweep it into the Pacific. Grassroots nonprofit Save Our Beach anchors tomorrow's effort, operating dual check-in canopies at the 1st Street beach lot and the base of the pier. City crews have arranged complimentary parking in both staging areas for registered participants, with organizers supplying heavy-duty buckets, biodegradable bags, and grabbers. Check-in begins at 9:00 AM under the blue pop-up tents, where site captains will dispatch teams toward the jetties until noon.
