Frost is burning off the lawns this morning, leaving behind the kind of bright, crisp Sunday made for porch coffee and high school sports celebrations.

The Lead

John Hardin High School’s girls cross country squad captured the Lincoln Trail Heartland Conference championship this weekend, led by an individual title from junior standout Kendall Lambert. Racing across the rolling 5,000-meter layout against regional rivals from Central Hardin, North Hardin, and Elizabethtown, Lambert broke away early and crossed the tape first in 20:49.

Her individual victory anchored a dominant pack effort, with teammates Micah Saulton, Naiema Albritton, and Makayla Wilson finishing in tight succession inside the top ten to secure the team crown for the Lady Bulldogs. The title marks a rewarding payoff for the program following months of pre-dawn training runs along Wilson Road. Next up, the runners turn their attention toward preparations for the regional qualifying meet at the end of the month.
