Familiar Name Chosen for New Elementary School

Radcliff, KY · September 19, 2026

Between the morning color runs and the aroma drifting from this afternoon's international food booths, you will not have much reason to sit inside today. Grab a cold drink before heading out—the afternoon humidity is not messing around.

The Lead

The Hardin County Board of Education officially settled on the identity of its upcoming north-end school, voting unanimously to christen the facility under construction as Trojan Way Elementary School.

The brand-new 800-student facility replaces North Park Elementary, which currently handles only preschool and kindergarten before dispersing children to Meadow View, Radcliff, Woodland, and Vine Grove. Once Trojan Way opens in August 2028, all five elementary campuses will expand to house full preschool through fifth-grade classes, doing away with the awkward early transfer northern families have navigated for years. Board Chair Dawn Johnson noted the name reflects campus traditions while emphasizing being productive, prepared, polite, and prompt. District planners now turn their focus to interior layout bidding as site prep continues through autumn.
