$2 On-Demand Shuttles Coming to Three Neighborhood Zones

Phoenix, AZ · October 11, 2026

Dust from Saturday’s haboob is still settling off the patio furniture, but today’s calm overcast skies offer easy weather for wandering. From drum circles at the Heard Museum to evening jazz on Roosevelt, the neighborhood is wide open.

The Lead

Starting October 26, getting around without a car or a rigid bus timetable gets significantly easier. The city’s Public Transit Department and Valley Metro have finalized details for PHXLink, an on-demand microtransit pilot designed to bridge first-and-last-mile connections across three zones: North, West, and South Phoenix.

For a flat $2 fare, riders will be able to book accessible passenger vans via phone or smartphone app, hailing rides to local grocery stores, medical centers, and transit stations. The vans arrive at designated virtual stops within each zone, running daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Crucially, the rollout coincides with an overhaul of the I-10 West and I-17 RAPID routes, turning limited peak-hour runs into two-way commuter service operating all day from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays. Transit staff will answer questions and assist with account setup during neighborhood pop-up sessions starting October 21.
