21 Immersive Floral Installations Debut Across Desert Trails Today
Phoenix, AZ · October 9, 2026
Before locking in your weekend plans, map out your freeway routes and snag tickets early for opening night across town. Between major highway closures kicking off at sundown and the debut of massive desert art pavilions, moving around the Valley will take a little extra coordination today.
The Lead
Desert Botanical Garden opens its headlining fall exhibition, "Super Bloom," today across the trails at 1201 North Galvin Parkway. Created by British art studio Graphic Rewilding, the two-and-a-half-year project introduces 21 monumental floral installations, anchored by walk-through pavilions modeled after stained-glass desert greenhouses. Oversized illustrations of desert marigolds, saguaro blossoms, and native pollinators filter sunlight along the paths by day, while internal lighting transforms the glass structures into glowing lanterns against the sandstone buttes after dark.
The exhibition marks the start of the garden's expanded autumn calendar, shifting to night hours through November. Opening-weekend access runs through Sunday, with general garden admission covering daytime visits and advance reservations suggested for the illuminated evening sessions. Trails open at 7:00 AM, with evening viewings continuing until 10:00 PM nightly.

- Operating at 2303 North Seventh Street since 1929, this historic counter owes its survival to ninety-nine scratch soda syrups, housemade pies, and deep community affection. Run by the Heizenrader family, the vintage wooden counter still preserves petrified wads of bubblegum stuck underneath by 1950s teenagers.
