Pack an extra canvas tote if you are heading toward the campus stalls this morning. With clear breezes and final-day art tents dotting the promenade, the sidewalks are yours to wander.

The Lead

Cyclists pedaling along Burns Road this morning have a concrete barrier between their tires and vehicular traffic. The city has wrapped up construction on Palm Beach County’s first bidirectional protected cycle track, converting the southern corridor of Burns Road between North Military Trail and Alternate A1A into a dedicated two-way bikeway.

Spanning roughly 0.84 miles, the 9.5-foot-wide asphalt path is walled off from car lanes by an 18-inch-wide, 6-inch-tall concrete curb, finished with reflective channel markers and high-visibility green pavement markings at key driveways. For neighborhood riders, the redesign creates a seamless link between the City Hall Municipal Campus, the Burns Road Community Center, and eastern shopping districts without forcing anyone to navigate mixed traffic or cross four travel lanes to reverse direction. Crews will monitor traffic flow through mid-November as drivers and cyclists adjust to the new corridor patterns.
