Two Full-Sized Ice Sheets Are Rising on Plant Drive

Palm Beach Gardens, FL · September 20, 2026

Sipping coffee under graying skies is the right call before scattered showers roll through this afternoon. Just keep in mind that the Burns Road pools open on adjusted midday hours if you plan on taking the family for a swim.

The Lead

Heavy equipment and deep foundation work along Plant Drive are steadily transforming a familiar municipal site into northern county's premier ice destination. The 123,245-square-foot Palm Beach Gardens Ice-Plex is taking shape on the property behind Palm Beach Gardens High School, driven by a long-term partnership between the city and the nonprofit Palm Beach North Athletic Foundation. When completed, the two-story facility will house two NHL-regulation rinks, dedicated curling lanes, multi-sport training areas, and an upper-level restaurant overlooking the ice. The project also preserved local athletic heritage by permanently relocating the softball diamond honoring late high school star Amanda Buckley to newly upgraded campus fields next door. Structural steel erection is progressing across the grounds, moving the complex toward its planned public opening next year.
