New Burns Road Cycle Track Takes Shape for Fall Riders

Palm Beach Gardens, FL · September 2, 2026

Fresh asphalt and lane markers are settling along Burns Road this morning as crews piece together our newest east-west connection. Keep an eye out for rolling work zones if you are heading between Military Trail and Alternate A1A.

The Lead

Cyclists and pedestrians traversing the city’s civic core will soon have a dedicated buffer from vehicle traffic as work advances on the Burns Road cycle track. The project converts the northern corridor along Burns Road into a 9.5-foot-wide, two-way separated path connecting Alternate A1A directly to Military Trail.

Designed to link neighborhoods with the high school campus, the aquatic complex, and the community center, the track replaces narrow sidewalk segments with high-visibility crosswalks, concrete curbing, and shaded resting nodes. Crews are currently finishing intersection grading and signal synchronization near Campus Drive. Project managers expect heavy machinery to clear the right-of-way by late autumn, opening the full two-mile stretch for the winter riding season.
