The Lead

Palm Beach State College has officially appointed former local campus leader Ignacia Benitez Piraino as its Student Trustee for the 2026–27 academic year. Selected from a field of 17 applicants, she will serve as the official student voice on the college's District Board of Trustees, advocating for more than 40,000 students across all five campuses. Originally from Santiago, Chile, Benitez Piraino built her leadership foundation right here, serving as Vice President of the Student Government Association on the local campus. In her new role, she plans to focus on expanding student engagement and strengthening cross-campus collaboration. Her official duties begin as the fall term opens later this month.
