80-Acre Rebuild Hub Opens on Highway 70

Nebo, NC · October 7, 2026

Wednesday brings clear mountain air across the foothills and an easy rhythm before festival preparations ramp up later this week.

The Lead

The sprawling 80-acre commercial lot along Highway 70 just west of Nebo has begun its next chapter as the regional operational hub for western North Carolina’s long-term home repairs. Formerly the Camping World and Tom Johnson dealership complex, the property was formally dedicated as the Marion Rebuild Center by Baptists on Mission, transforming 96,000 square feet of commercial floor space into warehouse storage for lumber, fleet staging, and volunteer housing.

The site will sleep and feed up to 80 skilled volunteer carpenters, plumbers, and roofers per night while housing mobile medical and feeding rigs between dispatches. For local families navigating the multi-year slog of rebuilding, having bulk materials staged five miles away eliminates supply snarls that slowed earlier relief work. Volunteer crews begin their first coordinated roofing runs out of the new warehouse bays this week.
