Downtown Marion transforms into a pedestrian commons this afternoon as the annual Culturas Unidas Festival takes over Main Street from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. What began as Mira Nuestras Voces—a grassroots public art initiative created to elevate local Hispanic and Latino heritage—has grown into one of the county's signature annual gatherings.
Today’s stage lineup brings high-energy rhythm and movement to the street, opening with Central American tributes from Furia Tropikal before featuring traditional Aztec dancers, Mariachi Juvenil Los García, Ballet Folklórico Mexican Tradition of Julio Ruiz, and Banda Los Guanajuatenses. Along the sidewalks, more than eighty craft vendors, Latin food trucks, and a dedicated Kids Zone round out the free community celebration. Event organizers will also announce the winners of this year’s youth art contest and present community leadership honors before evening street dancing closes out the night.

- Decades before California's forty-niners headed west, prospectors rushed to the quartz ridges along Muddy Creek just south of Nebo. Between 1831 and 1840, local foothill veins yielded so much raw ore that Christopher Bechtler minted America’s very first one-dollar gold coins from it.
