Agriculture Career Days Return for Area Students

Nealmont, PA · October 6, 2026

Crisp autumn air is rolling off the ridge early today before clear skies settle in for the afternoon. If you have an hour to talk pages after work, the library book club meets just after sundown.

The Lead

Blair County’s seventh graders are heading into the field this week as the Altoona Blair County Development Corporation and the Chamber’s Agriculture Committee bring back Agriculture Career Days on Wednesday and Thursday. Held at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park, the two-day showcase invites public school students from across the county—including classes from Tyrone Area—to explore modern agribusiness firsthand.

Rather than standard classroom lectures, students will rotate through 14 interactive demonstration stations covering everything from drone navigation and soil data analysis to large-animal veterinary medicine. Tyrone Area FFA members will serve as squad guides, steering younger peers between exhibits and sharing what agricultural study looks like in practice. For local families, the event provides early exposure to viable regional careers where technology meets legacy farming. Buses roll out early Wednesday morning for the first wave of demonstrations.
