Dr. C’s Private Art Collection Opens Downtown This Weekend

Madrid, NE · October 1, 2026

A cool October drizzle is holding down the field dust early today, offering a solid excuse to linger over a second mug of coffee. Take your time getting rolling, but make note of a lively slate heading into the weekend.

The Lead

Downtown Grant’s Meadowlark Gallery is opening its doors this weekend for a monthlong showcase featuring the private art collection of longtime local physician Dr. Clifford Colglazier. Curated under the title "Dr. C’s Collection," the exhibition brings dozens of personally acquired landscape paintings, original prints, and contemporary regional works out of private display and into the public eye starting Friday.

For art enthusiasts across Perkins County, the exhibition offers a rare look at pieces gathered over decades of regional travel and community patronage. Gallery volunteers spent earlier this week hanging the diverse selection following the departure of September’s statewide traveling show.

Meadowlark will welcome visitors every Friday and Saturday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM through the end of the month. The official public open house takes place Saturday evening, featuring live acoustic music alongside light refreshments on Central Avenue.
