Cardboard game boxes and coffee mugs are already claiming tables across downtown this morning. Take things at an easy pace today—there is plenty waiting whenever you step outside.

The Lead

Shoppers who expected this past Thursday to mark the end of the Downtown Los Altos Farmers' Market get a welcome reprieve. The Los Altos Village Association and the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association have quietly extended the season by two full weeks, keeping the wooden stalls and farm stands on State Street through October 29.

Under the schedule announced in April, the market was set to dismantle its tents in mid-October. The extension bridges the gap into downtown's packed autumn calendar, maintaining regular Thursday foot traffic ahead of next week’s Witches & Warlocks Wine Stroll and the season-ending craft markets. For downtown merchants and restaurateurs, the extra dates prevent a sudden drop in evening diners as daylight dwindles.

Vendors will set up between Second and Third streets for two more Thursdays from 4:00 to 8:00 PM before packing up for winter.
