0.012 Points Deliver a Historic State Marching Band Title
Logan, UT · November 7, 2026
Kickoff at Maverik Stadium is not until 7:30 tonight, leaving plenty of daylight to finish yard chores before game-day traffic takes over 800 East.
The Lead
North Logan's Green Canyon High School marching band pulled off a historic upset Friday night at the Utah Red Rocks State Marching Band Championships in St. George, clinching the 5A Open division title by the narrowest margin imaginable: 0.012 points. Competing at Greater Zion Stadium, the Wolves posted a total score of 91.275, edging out perennial powerhouse American Fork, who took second with 91.263.
The razor-thin victory gave Green Canyon the highest overall score of any marching band across all divisions statewide. Fellow valley contender Ridgeline High School in Millville also captured the 4A state crown during the competition, making it a banner weekend for local music programs. The win marks the first overall state title for Green Canyon's band, sending the championship trophy north before the team buses pull into the high school parking lot this morning.
