A crisp morning breeze set the tone at sunrise, but the real business starts at dusk when county planners roll out the finalized 2050 growth map. If you care where the next subdivisions, commercial corridors, and conservation buffers land, tonight's workshop is where you have your say.

The Lead

County planners and consultants from Inspire Placemaking Collective will set up shop from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lecanto Government Building on Sovereign Path for the final Comprehensive Plan Open House Workshop. The blueprint, dubbed Citrus 2050, will set the rules governing commercial expansion, residential density, and natural resource protection across the county for the next twenty-five years.

County staff spent the past twelve months gathering more than 1,400 survey responses and hosting pop-up discussions from the Gulf coast to the Withlacoochee River. Tonight marks the public’s last scheduled open-floor opportunity to scrutinize the draft maps and policy language in person before the document heads to formal public hearings before the Planning and Development Commission and the Board of County Commissioners. Residents unable to attend can still submit comments directly through the county's planning portal.
