Daytime Lane Closures on U.S. 19 and U.S. 41 Begin Monday
Lecanto, FL · October 4, 2026
Whistles and bicycle gears are echoing toward the depot early this morning for the annual trail ride. Soak up the easy Sunday rhythm before workweek highway crews roll out tomorrow.
The Lead
State transportation crews are setting up work zones along two primary commuting arteries tomorrow morning, bringing weeklong daytime lane restrictions for drivers traveling across the county. Florida Department of Transportation contractors will work daily from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM through Friday, October 9.
The heaviest impact centers on U.S. 19/98, where crews will close the inside left lanes in both directions between West Veterans Drive and West River Glen Court to build concrete median openings. On the opposite side of the ridge, workers will simultaneously restrict travel lanes on U.S. 41 near East 127th Avenue. Anyone commuting toward Crystal River commercial hubs or heading east toward Inverness should expect slower going through the mid-morning and afternoon rushes. Bypassing the highway corridors via County Road 491 will save you from sitting behind the construction barrels.

Spotlight & Story
- Black Diamond Ranch
- Long before fairways swept through Lecanto, this property was an abandoned, overgrown limestone quarry named after top-tier Florida citrus. In 1987, designer Tom Fazio carved the famed Quarry Course directly into eighty-foot cliffs, turning blasted rock walls into iconic back-nine doglegs.
