Fall Outdoor Programs Expand Across the Ridge This Weekend
Lecanto, FL · October 3, 2026
Morning cloud cover is keeping the pine flatwoods cool, but you'll want to pack a light poncho if you're heading out to Dames Cave or the ballfields today. A few scattered afternoon showers won't dampen a bustling Saturday.
The Lead
Citrus County Parks and Recreation announced key adjustments to its October lineup across the central ridge, urging weekend planners to double-check their calendars. The monthly farmers market at Central Ridge Community Park has been shifted back two weeks to October 24, giving organizers extra time to accommodate a larger crop of seasonal produce vendors and artisan booths.
In the meantime, the county is channeling its weekend energy into community park gatherings, highlighted by the upcoming family movie night on October 17 featuring an outdoor screening of Ghostbusters, free popcorn, and a youth costume competition. Additional fall clinic registrations opened this weekend for youth flag football and archery basics across local facilities. Parks staff are directing families to register through the county recreation portal before clinic rosters hit capacity.
