Wildcats Volleyball Claims Top-Ten State Ranking

Kalida, OH · October 7, 2026

Harvest combines are humming past the edge of town early this morning. With mild sunshine lined up for the afternoon, it is a fine day to keep the car windows rolled down.

The Lead

Kalida’s varsity volleyball squad enters the final stretch of regular-season play with substantial statewide momentum, capturing the No. 9 spot in the latest Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Division VII rankings. Carrying a 14-4 record, the Wildcats find themselves in the thick of a loaded Northwest District E field that features four state-ranked powerhouses from the Putnam County League, including Leipsic at No. 7, Ottoville at No. 10, and Miller City at No. 14. With tournament seeds on the line before the official district draw this Sunday, every remaining set counts. Sectional play kicks off on home courts across the area on October 19, but the Wildcats must first navigate a road matchup at Pandora-Gilboa on Thursday evening to lock down their regular-season resume.
