New Pedestrian Loop and Bridges Connect Neighborhoods to Parks
Kalida, OH · August 21, 2026
High school sports energy is in the air today as local teams kick off another packed fall weekend. Grab an early cup of coffee and settle in for what's happening around town.
The Lead
Pedestrians across the village will soon enjoy an uninterrupted walk from downtown straight through to Four Seasons Park. A major infrastructure initiative is adding over 16,000 feet of upgraded five-foot-wide concrete sidewalks alongside a brand-new dedicated pedestrian bridge over Plum Creek on Route 114. Supported by more than $1.6 million in state and federal Transportation Alternatives Program grant funding, the initiative eliminates hazardous roadside crossings and bridges the gap between local residential neighborhoods, the public library, and school grounds. Existing narrower pathways are being replaced at zero direct cost to property owners. Crews are wrapping up concrete pouring and bridge placement before autumnal weather arrives, establishing a seamless multi-use loop for local families, joggers, and evening strolls.
