Town Hall Hits the Road for Five-Village Listening Tour
Hartford, VT · October 21, 2026
A sharp autumn chill is hanging over the river confluence this morning, but downtown will warm up fast once evening trivia and committee talks kick off.
The Lead
Hartford's unusual geography—spanning Wilder, White River Junction, West Hartford, Hartford Village, and Quechee—often means each corner of town wrestles with very different concerns, from downtown parking crunches to washouts on back roads. Town Manager Gail Ostrout has taken Town Hall directly into the neighborhoods through the 5-Villages Listening Tour.
With early stops at the Wilder Club and Library and White River Junction’s Main Street Museum already completed, municipal staff are preparing for their next gathering at the West Hartford Library. Rather than asking folks to trek down to Bridge Street for a standard selectboard public comment period, administrators are gathering neighborhood-specific feedback on road maintenance, community hubs, and transit connections in person. The West Hartford session will focus squarely on rural services along Route 14 before the tour moves to Hartford Village.
