Student Art Showcase Opens at Community Center

Crisp, clear air greeted the sunrise after an overnight freeze, but the rinks and gym floors are warm today. If you need an excuse to get moving before the workweek returns, indoor recreation is waiting.

The Lead

A fresh creative showcase has arrived at the Fishers Community Center, courtesy of some of the city’s youngest talents. Through a new partnership between the city and Fishers High School, the facility now features an inaugural gallery exhibition displaying roughly two dozen original works from Advanced Placement Art students.

The collection brings vibrant oil paintings, photography, and mixed-media pieces out of school hallways and into public corridors frequented by daily visitors and gym-goers. For the students, having pieces mounted under professional gallery lighting offers rare, tangible exposure alongside seasoned regional artists. For residents walking the indoor track or stopping by city offices, it provides an unscripted look at neighborhood creativity. Curators intend to swap the collection out each semester, giving subsequent classes a recurring public canvas as new projects take shape.
