Detour Ends as 136th Street Reopens to Traffic
Fishers, IN · November 7, 2026
Pack up those old electronics sitting in the garage — the city's drop-off lines at Billericay Park open first thing this morning. Just keep a warm layer handy once you step out the door.
The Lead
Drivers navigating the city's east side can finally retire their detours. On Friday afternoon, public works officials announced the reopening of three major road improvement projects, headlined by the widening of 136th Street between Southeastern Parkway and Prairie Baptist Road. The once-narrow, rural two-lane stretch has been transformed into a modern boulevard equipped with raised medians, curbs, upgraded storm sewers, and multi-use paths flanking both sides.
The announcement also marks the completion of expanded capacity along USA Parkway north of 106th Street and final intersection upgrades at 116th Street and Allisonville Road. While all travel lanes are officially back in service, motorists should still watch for intermittent restrictions as crews complete final striping, signage, and roadside restoration over the coming days.
