Fall Recycling Day Returns to Billericay Park This Saturday
Fishers, IN · November 5, 2026
Overcast skies are holding steady overhead this Thursday, but there is plenty percolating across local drawing boards and neighborhood halls.
The Lead
The Fishers Plan Commission voted unanimously Wednesday night to recommend denial of "One Sixteen," a proposed 26-home residential development along East 116th Street. Integra Builders sought rezoning for a 10.45-acre parcel at 10401 East 116th Street, proposing four three-story brownstone-style houses fronting the corridor alongside 22 traditional single-family homes behind them.
Dozens of neighboring residents voiced objections during public hearings, citing increased traffic, loss of mature tree buffers, and storm runoff. Commission member and City Councilor Pete Peterson led the push against the rezoning, arguing that urban brownstones suit the downtown core rather than this suburban stretch near Legends at Geist. While city planning staff initially supported the rezoning because its density met the comprehensive plan, commissioners sided with neighborhood concerns. The final decision now moves to the City Council, where developers will try to make their case despite the unfavorable recommendation.
