$100,000 Grant Expands Tutoring Across Local Schools
Fishers, IN · October 7, 2026
Midweek sunshine is arriving right on cue for morning yoga on the lawn at Flat Fork Creek Park. Squeeze in an outdoor stroll before the afternoon warms up and the week gets busier.
The Lead
The Fishers Youth Assistance Program received a major boost this week with a $100,000 grant from the Indiana Youth Institute to expand tutoring and academic support across local schools.
The funding stems from the statewide Strengthening Youth Programs in Indiana initiative, backed by the Lilly Endowment, which awarded grants to strengthen educational and social foundations for students ages 5 through 18. For local families, that capital goes straight to scaling up both small-group and one-on-one academic tutoring, particularly for young readers working through foundational reading skills and classroom hurdles throughout the school year.
FYAP, which works alongside the school district, city leaders, and the county court to provide early intervention services from food assistance to casework, plans to roll out the expanded tutoring sessions across elementary and middle school grades over the coming weeks.
