Casting a ballot on Election Day will soon look fundamentally different across the county. On Tuesday, the Hamilton County Election Board voted unanimously to scrap traditional, assigned precinct polling places in favor of a countywide vote center model beginning with the 2027 municipal elections. Under the approved plan, voters will no longer have to sprint to a single designated neighborhood table before the evening cutoff; any registered voter can cast a ballot at any of 57 locations throughout the county.

While the new setup consolidates the county's 102 legacy sites, the 57 vote centers—primarily local schools equipped with synchronized electronic poll books—more than double the minimum required by state law. County election administrators will spend 2027 testing machine allocations and rolling out public education before the model faces its first major turnout test.
