75 Regional Works Fill Municipal Center Art Galleries This Month
Fishers, IN · September 5, 2026
Lawn chairs are already claiming prime patches of grass across the Municipal Complex early today. Between the morning farmers market and tonight's opening guitar riffs, you will not have much reason to leave downtown.
The Lead
The Fishers Arts Council opened its seventh annual Juried Exhibit of Hamilton County Artists this weekend, turning the Municipal Complex into a countywide creative showcase. Selected by nationally recognized pastelist Carol Strock Wasson, this year’s collection features 75 original pieces—64 two-dimensional works and 11 sculptures—created by neighbors across Fishers and surrounding communities.
What makes this year’s installation stand out is its footprint: artwork now fills both the Art Gallery inside City Hall and the twin gallery spaces in the adjacent Fishers Art Center, doubling the public viewing area compared to past editions. It offers an easy indoor stop to duck out of the afternoon heat and see how regional painters, sculptors, and printmakers interpret everyday Midwestern life. Visitors can cast ballots in person or on the arts council’s Facebook page for the People's Choice Award until voting officially wraps up at 7 p.m. on September 11.

Spotlight & Story
- The Original Town Hall Site
- Before municipal complexes rose along Municipal Drive, Fishers town business ran out of a modest brick hall on 116th Street’s south side. Later beloved as Gallery 116, that downtown parcel now anchors the multi-story Nickel Plate Station apartments and retail storefronts.
