Tiger Runners Claim Top Spots at Weekend Conference Meet
Festus, MO · October 19, 2026
Chilly autumn air is lingering across the valley this morning, but the roar from the high school gridiron should warm things right back up by five o'clock.
The Lead
The Festus High School cross country program cemented another conference milestone over the weekend, hosting the 2026 JCAA Conference Championship on Saturday at Larry G. Crites Memorial Park. Running on their home paths, the Tigers made a statement across divisions.
Senior standout Lucy Boyer captured the varsity girls 5,000-meter individual title with a brisk 19:32.18 finish, leading teammates Kyndall Gildea in third and Marisa Peter in sixth to lock down the team title. The program's depth showed just as clearly in the junior varsity race, where freshman Molly Holmes grabbed first place. For local spectators along the fence line, the morning proved the Tigers' distance powerhouse remains in peak form heading into postseason competition. The squad travels north to Clayton this Friday before gearing up for the Class 4 district championship meet on Halloween weekend.
