Cromwell Street Paving Moves Ahead as Summer Roadwork Shifts

Festus, MO · August 20, 2026

Happy Thursday — asphalt rollers are hard at work on Cromwell Street today as the summer paving campaign reaches its next stretch.

The Lead

Contractors with Jokerst Paving have wrapped up curb replacement, milling, and asphalt overlay in the Edgewood neighborhood and moved heavy equipment to Cromwell Street. Crews are currently milling the existing surface to prepare the roadway for full-depth pavement repairs before laying down the final asphalt layer.

The work is part of the city's annual street maintenance program, which invests roughly $500,000 each year into preventative maintenance, storm sewer adjustments, and resurfacing across residential corridors. Once Cromwell is complete, paving crews will immediately shift to the next designated neighborhood street on the summer roster. Drivers through the area should expect brief single-lane traffic shifts and minor delays during active work hours.
