Fall Festival Detours Begin Friday at Noon

De Armanville, AL · October 1, 2026

Stage lights are powering up for Dionne Warwick tonight, giving our side of the valley an early thrill before weekend crowds roll in. Take advantage of open lanes across the commercial district today before festival detours alter tomorrow’s commute.

The Lead

Downtown Oxford is bracing for a massive foot-traffic weekend as final logistics click into gear for the 40th annual Oxfordfest this Saturday. Before hundreds of craft stalls and food trailers begin parking along the pavement, motorists need to prepare for major detours starting tomorrow at noon. Crews will barricade Main Street and East Choccolocco Street to create a pedestrian-only footprint, keeping the thoroughfares shut down until approximately 5:00 PM on Saturday.

Drivers traveling through the central district should route around the core using McPherson Street or Alabama Highway 21 throughout Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. The milestone gathering expects more than 300 regional vendors, live music, and family activities from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday. Downtown shopkeepers urge anyone parked on Main Street Friday morning to move vehicles prior to the midday closure.
