Community Cruisers Honor Cancer Awareness, Plus Free Museum Day Today

De Armanville, AL · August 22, 2026

Early fog will burn off fast this Saturday morning, leaving clear skies for a busy slate of weekend gatherings across the valley.

The Lead

The Oxford Police Department has unveiled two specially wrapped patrol vehicles dedicated to raising awareness for cancer research and early detection. The cruisers features striking custom vinyl wraps — one finished in pink and white for breast cancer awareness, and the other in gray and purple for brain cancer support.

Funded entirely through private community donations rather than municipal tax dollars, the cruisers will serve a dual purpose in Calhoun County. While department officers will drive them during standard neighborhood shifts, the vehicles will also appear at area schools, health awareness events, and civic outreach gatherings throughout the year. Department leadership designed the project to start meaningful conversations about health screenings and to show visible solidarity with local families navigating a cancer diagnosis.
