Record-Setting Touchdown Seals Big Weekend Win
Canada, KY · September 28, 2026
Crisp mountain air settled into the hollows overnight, leaving a refreshing start to the workweek. Grab a light jacket for the early drive, and expect clear skies to carry us straight through midweek.
The Lead
University of Pikeville running back Amon Williams etched his name into the program’s record books on Saturday afternoon at the Hambley Athletics Complex.
During UPike’s 31-7 non-conference victory over Bethel University, Williams punched in a two-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to reach 192 career points. The score pushed him past former wide receiver Jordan Amis to make him the all-time leading scorer in Bears history, while also marking his 32nd career touchdown. The milestone capped a suffocating defensive performance that limited Bethel to just 27 rushing yards on 19 attempts all afternoon.
With non-conference competition officially wrapped up, the Bears earn an open week to rest and regroup before taking their 3-2 record on the road to battle the University of Rio Grande.
