Waterfront Boardwalk Stretch Wraps Ahead of Council Review

Bay St. Louis, MS · October 6, 2026

Catching the rumble of vintage engines along Beach Boulevard is your reminder that car week is hitting full stride today. Keep an eye out for detour signs and roving chrome before heading into the afternoon.

The Lead

City Council takes up substantial completion tonight on the newly finished downtown ADA boardwalk segment stretching along the shoreline behind Dan B’s from DeMontluzin Avenue. The completed timber promenade establishes a continuous, barrier-free pedestrian route directly above the water, separating harbor strolls from vehicular traffic along South Beach Boulevard.

With the initial stretch structurally complete, council members are also reviewing a $771,182 change order with contractor David Rush Construction to extend the path southward toward Ulman Avenue. Tying the sections together will eventually create an unbroken walking corridor from the municipal harbor down to residential beach access points. The measure heads to the dais during tonight’s 5:30 PM regular meeting at the Main Street conference center.
