Oktoberfest Returns to the Historic Mill This Saturday

Arlington, MA · October 2, 2026

An unseasonably warm breeze is rustling the avenue this morning, setting up an easy Friday before tonight's open mic at Donut Villa.

The Lead

Arlington greets October with a packed autumn weekend anchored by the 162-year-old Old Schwamb Mill’s annual Oktoberfest. Running Saturday from noon to 4:00 PM along the banks of Mill Brook at 17 Mill Lane, the outdoor festival honors the German immigrant roots of the historic woodworking landmark.

Attendees will find German-inspired fare, local pours from Arlington Brewing Company, and two live sets from hometown favorites Sure, Why Not? Between bratwurst and brass, visitors can step inside the nation’s oldest continuously operating mill site to watch master woodturners shape oval frames on 19th-century elliptical lathes or view the newly opened ReFrame contemporary sculpture exhibit on the second floor. Admission to the mill grounds is free, with proceeds from food and beer supporting ongoing preservation work. Gates open at noon sharp just off the Minuteman Bikeway.
