Arnold Park Courts Open With New Rink and Playground

Abington, MA · October 8, 2026

The sound of street hockey pucks clacking against brand-new boards echoes across Harrison Avenue this morning. It is a crisp autumn Thursday with plenty stirring around our squares.

The Lead

North Abington’s Arnold Park has wrapped up its most extensive transformation in more than two decades, welcoming local youth and families to completely overhauled recreation grounds off Harrison Avenue. The revitalized facility now features a brand-new, regulation street hockey court sporting the Boston Bruins Foundation crest at center rink, paired with fresh asphalt basketball courts, expanded playground equipment, and updated site drainage. Backed by local Community Preservation Act funding and a pivotal $50,000 charitable contribution from the Bruins Foundation, the project addresses years of deferred recreation maintenance across the neighborhood. Youth street hockey teams and casual pick-up players have already begun breaking in the smooth surface this week. The Park and Recreation Commission now turns its attention to scheduling youth clinics and setting seasonal court hours ahead of winter.
