In-Person Utility Payments Shift Away From Town Hall

Abington, MA · October 1, 2026

October arrives under quiet gray skies just in time for tonight's graphic novel roundtable. If you usually drop off your municipal utility payments in person, make sure you head to the right building before heading out.

The Lead

Effective immediately, the Treasurer/Collector's office at Town Hall is no longer taking in-person water and sewer bill payments. Residents settling their accounts in person will now need to head straight to the individual departments: water bills must be dropped off at the Abington-Rockland Joint Water Works office at 366 Centre Avenue in Rockland between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM, while sewer payments now go directly to the Abington Sewer Department at 350 Summer Street.

Online payments through the town portal and mailed checks remain unaffected and will process normally. Officials say the administrative realignment eliminates redundant inter-office routing and connects residents directly with utility staff who can answer metering and usage questions on the spot. Anyone heading out with a paper stub this week should check the payment address first before driving over to Gliniewicz Way.
