New Spectator Guidelines Set Ahead of Friday Night Football
Abington, MA · September 28, 2026
Monday arrives with steady puddles and damp pavement across the neighborhood. Take the morning drive slowly before settling into a full slate of municipal updates and autumn routines.
The Lead
Athletic Director Peter Serino announced that varsity football games at Abington High School will operate under tighter perimeter and entry protocols this autumn. Beginning this week, all spectators must enter through either the Frolio Gate or the main turnstile along Ralph Hamlin Way behind the baseball backstop. To prevent overcrowding and maintain clear separation near team sidelines, the pedestrian route connecting Beaver Brook Playground will remain locked on game nights. Additionally, school officials will shut down Beaver Brook Playground, the practice fields behind the visiting sideline, and the hill behind the American Legion post one hour prior to kickoff. All students under thirteen must attend with an adult chaperone, while regular admission holds steady at five dollars for adults and older students. School staff will test the entry layout during midweek junior varsity action before Friday’s varsity lights switch on.
