Nine Fresh Baskets Ready at the Park

Abercrombie, ND · October 10, 2026

An overcast sky won't stop the thermometer from flirting with ninety degrees this afternoon, so grab an iced drink and head outside early.

The Lead

Abercrombie Park & Museum along Broadway has quietly turned into an autumn playground with the full debut of the community's new nine-hole disc golf course. Designed by local volunteers Thomas Reagan, Jaredin Kieffer, and Trevor Brown—with backing from the city council and park board—the par-27 layout winds 2,123 feet through mature trees and open turf on the town's east side.

Each hole features five-by-twelve-foot concrete tee pads, thirty-six-chain DiscStore baskets, and distance signage, with benches placed every few holes. For anyone curious to try the sport without buying equipment, a disc-share box near the entrance provides discs and paper scorecards for an impromptu afternoon round.

With fall colors settling in along the Red River corridor, the greens are open to all skill levels from sunrise to sunset. Just grab a driver from the box and aim between the trees.
